Northern Ireland fundraisers' convention set for 30 June

This year’s annual Fundraisers’ Training Convention, organised by the Institute of Fundraising Northern Ireland, will be held on Thursday 30 June 2005 at the Beechlawn House Hotel, Dunmurry.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Funding the Future’.

Speakers from the voluntary, corporate and statutory sectors in Northern Ireland and throughout the UK will cover topics such as ‘Core Funding Strategies’, ‘Organising successful fundraising events’, ‘Peace III – what next?’, ‘What makes an Award Winning Corporate Partnership?’, ‘Developing Major Donors’, ‘Researching Your Statutory Donors’, ‘Motivating Volunteers’ and ‘Planning for Sustainability – The Big Lottery Fund’.

Jill Houston, Chair of the Convention, said: “This year the Institute has really taken stock of the challenges facing the sector in relation to the uncertainty of secure funding for core activities, the changes in the funding climate and the need for diversifying funding sources and activities, and used them to shape the convention programme.”

She added that a special rate is available for community groups and this year BT’s support meant that a limited number of bursaries were available to smaller organisations by application.
