Two charities to benefit from new TV reality football programme
All net proceeds from Sky One’s new reality TV football programme, The Match, which starts today, will be donated equally between charities NCH and the Chicken Shed Theatre Company.
The Match involves a squad of footballing celebrities taking on a team of Premiership Legends. All net proceeds from interactive voting, ticket sales and merchandise will be given to the charities, with “at least £25,000” going to each.
Both charities were finalists in Sky’s recent Make It Big initiative.

Viewers will be able to vote out the celebrities on a daily basis, with all the money raised from voting going to the charities. The Match will culminate with a final between the celebrities and the Legends XI on Sunday 10 October 2004 at the home of Newcastle United, St James’ Park.
