New telephone affinity product to offer monthly income for charities

Howard Lake | 10 October 2004 | News

Charities whose supporters use telephone affinity company Project Oscar’s new affinity telephone service will receive 15% of the income from the supporters’ net call spend.

The new product, “Oscar Connect”, will let individuals and businesses generate income for their preferred charity or club at no extra cost to them, and without the need for them to change their telephone number or benefits.

Indeed, Oscar Connect is being specifically promoted to “those BT clients who will not sacrifice quality for cost savings, but still wish to financially support a charity.”

Isle of Man-based Project Oscar say that their service for fixed lines (ie. not mobiles) offers “exactly the same rates as BT, exactly the same quality as BT, [and] the same Options 1, 2 and 3 as BT.” Furthermore telephone calls between fellow supporters on the Project Oscar network can be made at no charge.

Charities will receive 8% of the call spend.

Project Oscar has been generating monthly income for over two years for organisations such as Oxfam, MSRC, Crusaders and the Williams Syndrome Foundation.
