More applications for GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT awards sought
A tip on the trust-fundraising special interest group e-mail list suggests that GlaxoSmithKline is keen to receive more applications for its IMPACT awards.
Unusually the awards offer up to £30,000 of unrestricted funding. They are open to registered charities which have operated for over three years in a health-related field in the UK, and which have an annual budget of under £750,000.
The ten winners will each receive £20,000 and the overall winner will get an additional £10,000.

Recipients get to decide how to spend the money: there is no need for the charity to create a new project to benefit from the award. This is because the awards recognise success and achievements for existing work.
Such flexible awards are unusual in the charity sector, so it is surprising that GlaxoSmithKline is having to encourage more applications, as indicated by Penny Clover, writing on the trust-fundraising e-mail list.
The deadline for applications is 22 October 2004.
