Dickie Bird launches new charity for children

Former celebrity cricket umpire Dickie Bird M.B.E has launched the Dickie Bird Foundation which will help less privileged children participate in sport.
The Foundation has been created to help children and young people under the age of 18 from less privileged backgrounds, to take part and compete in the sport of their choice, to the best of their ability.
The Dickie Bird Foundation has been backed by a number of celebrity patrons including Michael Parkinson C.B.E, Sir Bobby Robson, Sir Tim Rice and Rt. Hon. John Major.

Dickie Bird commented: “I hope the Foundation provides more opportunities for children all around the UK and helps to remove the added costs associated with taking part in sport today. I want to make it clear that the Dickie Bird Foundation is for children and young people having needs in all sports – not just cricket.”
The Foundation will be working in partnership with JJB Sports Ltd and it has also been backed by a number of local businesses.
