The Ican Foundation will be launched next month to support, encourage and celebrate artistic excellence in young people.

First established in February 2002, the Ican Foundation’s wider aim is for its artistic support to benefit individuals and the community.

Founded by Deborah and Bertie Headley, the Foundation aims to present the public with excellent surroundings for nurturing, developing and presenting their work. It has already started work by forming the Ican choir and orchestra and purchasing the old Rex Cinema in South Norwood in June 2003. At present there are 39 young people from all over London from 11 to 21 who are benefiting from the Foundation.

The Headleys have worked in the social and probation sector for over 20 years. For the last eight years they have run three Children’s homes in London alongside their property development business.

The Ican Foundation is not related to I CAN, the charity that helps children with speech and language difficulties.
