A 17th century Spanish rent book has been donated to the Hammersmith branch of Books for Amnesty.

The 150-page book is in good condition and on 6 June was presented to June Esther Cruces, the Director of the Malaga Historical Archive. It is a hand-written account of farm rent payments from 1612-1616 in the Malaga area of southern Spain, and is bound in parchment with leather hinges. It is of considerable historical value.

Lara Woolston, shops manager at Amnesty International UK, said: “The Books for Amnesty shops are constantly receiving a wonderful range of fascinating publications and artefacts. In the past we’ve been given a Noel Coward songbook signed by the author and a Bertrand Russell letter.
