Battersea Dogs Home appoints new Director of Fundraising

Howard Lake | 4 November 2002 | News

Fiona Healey-Hutchinson joined the south-west London based animal welfare charity today.

She joins after spending three years as Fundraising Manager at King Edward VII Hospital. She has worked for several charities including one she set up herself for children with AIDS. Her background includes PR, events and haute-couture as well as running her own business in flower distribution.

Fiona joins the charity at a time when it needs to extend its London facilities and continue on its programme of improving its country satellite kennels. Battersea has not, until now, undertaken proactive fundraising but relied on voluntary and legacy income. The fundraising function has been set up as the Home became uneasy about relying solely on this income and felt the need to redress the balance between legacy (currently over 90% of the total) and donated income.

Duncan Green, Battersea’s Director General, said “We are not suffering a money crisis, as we have prudent trustees and staff and we have always spent within our means. However, we do have some major projects in the pipeline which will only be delayed if we rely on our current level of income.”
