ICANN chooses Internet Society to run .org domain
A non-profit organisation has appropriately enough been selected to manage the .org registry, the top level domain used by non-profit organisations.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has chosen the Internet Society (ISOC) to operate the .org registry. ISOC’s Public Interest Registry (PIR) – will succeed VeriSign Global Registry Services as the operator after 31 December 2002. ISOC was one of 11 applicants for the role.
