ICANN update on .org management selection process

ICANN has announced the latest stage in the process to select a company to take over management of the .org domain name.

ICANN, The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, has published an update on the status of the evaluation of the 11 applications that is has received from entities seeking to become the registry operator for the .org top-level domain from 1 January 2003, when VeriSign, Inc. gives up that role.

ICANN now expects a final decision to be made on 21 October 2002.
