Red Cross to launch two appeals on 11 September

The British Red Cross is to launch two appeals on 11 September, the first anniversary of the disasters in Washinton, New York and Pennsylvania, to raise funds for disaster victims around the world.

The Just One Hour appeal will encourage people to donate the equivalent of what they earn for one hour. Ask Jeeves UK, Hitachi Europe Ltd, lastminute.com, Royal & SunAlliance, Standard Chartered Bank, Waitrose.com and WWAV Rapp Collins West are among more than twenty five companies that have already agreed to encourage either their staff or their customers to get involved in this campaign.

The Dine for Humanity Appeal will encourage people eating out in the week of 11 September to add £1 to their bill at participating restaurants and hotels to be passed on to the British Red Cross. The charity is hoping that participating companies will make a donation or match customers’ donation.
