Infund encourages charities to become Virtual Internet Service Providers
Infund launched today, encouraging charities to earn income from their online supporters who can ‘donate while they surf.’
Infund is the latest company to encourage charities to generate income by persuading supporters to ‘donate while they surf’.
The company is offering to help charities become Virtual Internet Service Providers (VISPs) and thereby offer branded Internet access to their supporters. The charity would earn income from the Internet access charges that its supporter would pay.

Ian Monger, Infund’s Charity Director, said: “Infund handles the payments and technical support but brands the service to each individual charity, who can even give the service a name! We are confident that the market has been waiting for a product like ours for some time.”
The branding which Infund offers includes a sign-up process originating within the charity’s website but with the payment process handled entirely through Infund’s site which would display the charity’s brand. Supporters receive branded email addresses (e.g. an*****@*********************co.uk), and they will receive e-mail confirmations and Webmail access that are all in the charity’s branding.
Infund relies on the charity to market the service to its supporters. Beyond this, say Infund, “the charity need make no capital investment and incurs no set-up or ongoing costs associated with running an ISP.”
