UK charities were not so troubled. Childline, Centrepoint and Focus E5 shared the proceeds from last months’ auction of the set of the UK Big Brother TV series. “Nasty Nick” Bateman’s bed went for £2,000, and comic Alan Davies paid £30,000.01 for a chair.
