Jim Minton to take up CEO role at Mayor’s Fund for London

The Mayor’s Fund for London has today announced the appointment of Jim Minton as its new Chief Executive, effective September 2022. Minton is currently the Chief Executive of Toynbee Hall, a multipurpose community organisation in East London, which he has led since 2017. During that time, he has revitalised the focus of the organisation, built deeper engagement with communities, and renewed the historic home of the charity to support a vibrant and growing range of services and partnerships. Jim was previously Director of Membership and Communications at London Youth, and before that was a senior civil servant in the Home Office. He has previously worked in international development and held senior roles at a number of national charities, having begun his career in marketing for a major brewer. Jim is chair of trustees at youth refugee charity, Dost, is Vice Chair of the Aldgate BID, and a board member of Collaborate CIC.


Caroline Withers joins Support SEND Kids as trustee

Support SEND Kids has announced the appointment of Caroline Withers, Commercial Legal Director at Virgin Media O2, as a trustee to the charity. The first addition to the trustee board since its founding in 2021, Withers has spent almost 15 years at Virgin Media O2, and for the past 10 years, she has acted as Legal Director for the company. In her current role, she leads the corporate and commercial legal teams to execute strategic media and telecoms transactions across various specialisms including M&A, corporate governance, commercial, marketing & advertising, IP, data privacy and litigation. As a passionate advocate of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, she will champion Support SEND Kids’ efforts to raise awareness for the lack of support afforded to SEND parents trying to navigate the EHCP process and the barriers preventing SEND children from accessing proper educational support.

New Executive Directors for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex

Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) has announced two new appointments. Kelly Heaton-Ralph has been promoted to Executive Director of Fundraising and Philanthropy and Symon Russell to Executive Director of Individual Giving. The new Senior Leadership roles have been created as part of a strategic drive to further strengthen income streams at the charity. Kelly Heaton-Ralph joined the charity in 2019 as Director of Development since which time she has successfully transformed high-value giving, raising over £1M in 2021-22. She started her career 14 years ago as a volunteer with Sue Ryder, before going on to hold senior fundraising roles at Hospice in the Weald and Action for Children and she has also managed events for Royal Society for Blind Children. Symon Russell, who joined KSS in 2019 as Director of Individual Giving, has over 15 years’ charity sector experience including as Senior Data Marketing & Planning Manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, Head of Insight & CRM at Barnardo’s and Database Marketing Manager at Amnesty International UK. He is currently Co-Vice Chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s special interest group for Insight in Fundraising.


BDO appoints Jill Halford as National Head of Not for Profit

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has appointed Jill Halford as its national head of not for profit, effective from 1 July 2022. Jill, an audit partner and national head of charities, joined the firm three and a half years ago. She will be replacing Phil Cliftlands, who will be taking on the role of regional managing partner for BDO’s offices in the South East. Jill has led the Charity assurance and advisory team since joining BDO over three years ago. She has spent over 20 years working with the sector and has significant experience of working with highly complex Not for Profit organisations. Jill’s new role will see her build on the firm’s existing position as the leading auditor and advisor to the UK’s top 200 charities and housing associations, as well as higher education organisations.


MediCinema appoints Jamie Lynch as Director of Development

Jamie Lynch has been appointed as MediCinema’s Director of Development. He is the former Development Manager for the Young Actors Theatre Islington (YATI). In this newly created role, Lynch will be responsible for leading the strategic fundraising direction of the charity, overseeing multichannel streams including Corporate Partnerships, Trusts and Foundations and Individual Giving. He reports directly to CEO Colin Lawrence as part of the Senior Management Team. As Development Manager at YATI, he was responsible for creating a step-change in delivery, impact and turnover. His development work expanded the range of partnerships to connect with Tech, Construction, Law and Finance sectors, and increased fundraising returns from statutory, public and individual sources. Lynch was also responsible for securing the financial health of the charity through the pandemic.
