Charity vice president raises £50,000 in sponsored mountain climb

Howard Lake | 11 October 2004 | News

Neville Shulman OBE, vice president of children’s charity NCH, has scaled the four biggest peaks in Ecuador, and in doing so raised almost £50,000 for an NCH school in Chipping Norton.

Neville has been a Vice President of NCH for 15 years. He paid all of his expedition costs personally so that 100% of the donation will go directly to NCH.

Over ten days Neville scaled the mountains of Pichincha (15,729 ft), tackling its two summits; Iliniza Norte (16,815 ft) and
Chimborazo, the tallest mountain in Ecuador at 20,700ft. He had to abandon his summit of Cotopaxi (meaning ‘broken neck’) before he
reached the top, due to adverse weather conditions.
