Major philanthropists call on UK’s wealthiest to join them in supporting climate action

The 100 richest families in the UK along with the Chairs and CEOs of the largest 100 foundations will today, World Environment Day, receive a letter co-signed by 14 major philanthropists urging their support for action on climate and the environment.
The philanthropists behind the letter include billionaire Andre Hoffman and British financier and environmentalist, Ben Goldsmith.

Furthermore, the philanthropists say that with the UK hosting the COP26 international climate talks as well as the G20, and with the UN Biodiversity and Ocean conferences also taking place, there is currently an unparalleled opportunity to make a difference.
They add:
The letter also highlights the power of philanthropy and charitable giving to fund work that can’t be funded by governments, to enable risks to be taken, to fund transformative solutions, and to push for change, and lists some of the impact it’s had so far. It also includes details of where recipients can go to get help starting or developing their giving and investment strategies.
