Arthritis Care won Fundraising Team of the Year at September’s Third Sector Awards, in recognition of the team’s success and the challenges it has overcome in recent years.
Under director of fundraising Di Gornall, the team’s work has resulted in the first growth in donations for ten years. Other achievements include hitting a £60,000 target for the London Marathon, developing the fundraising sections of the website to make the donation process easier, securing two significant grants from Big Lottery and Alliance Scotland, and developing a new donor recruitment drive.
The growth in donations is directly helping the charity to increase its capacity to support people with arthritis. As a result, Arthritis Care has been able to continue offering its free helpline service, as well as information booklets on a range of topics from working with arthritis to managing pain, an online forum and activities weekends for young people with arthritis.
Gornall said:

“We’re delighted to have received this award which recognises the challenges we’ve overcome. The growth in donations we’re now receiving will ensure Arthritis Care can continue to provide a lifeline for all people with the condition.”
