Ed Sheeran lookalike pig statue raises £6,200 for charity

A fibreglass pig statue designed to look like singer Ed Sheeran has sold at auction for £6,200 for St Elizabeth’s Hospice in Ipswich.
The statue, titled ‘Ed Sheer-Ham’, and designed by Martin J Wall, was one of 39 that were displayed in a public art trail in the Suffolk town. The singer supported the campaign and said he would sign the pig for the highest bidder.
The Pigs Gone Wild trail concluded with a charity auction. Ed Sheer-Ham did well, but the most valuable was Ipswich Blue which sold for £6,500.

The auction raised £154,050 for the local hospice. Combined with the amount donated by the community and local businesses through their fundraising efforts, around £200,000 has been raised for local hospice care.
The trail and campaign was run by Wild in Art in partnership with St Elizabeth’s Hospice.
Other pig statues were named Sir Bradley Piggins, Captain Pigwash, Pigasus, and Pepper Pig.
Pigs Gone Wild is one of many public art trails which conclude with a charity auction. Elephants, Paddington Bear, Shaun the Sheep, gorillas, giraffes and dragons are among the many animals and characters that have helped raise funds for charities.

St Elizabeth’s Hospice has already indicated that it will run another public art trail and fundraising campaign.
