Poundland’s plastic carrier bag sales raise £670k for Macmillan Cancer Support

How much are the 5p per plastic bag sales worth to charity? Poundland has just donated £670,000 from them to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Its partnership with its national charity partner has now raised over £2 million.
Indeed, sales of plastic carrier bags have raised even more for charity at Poundland. The company will also make a one-off donation to UCL Dementia Research charity and a donation to its Welsh charity partner, Cancer Research Wales. This will bring the total that the business will give to charity from carrier bag sales to almost £800,000.

Legislation across the UK requires retailers to charge 5p per plastic bag given to customers.
Poundland states that it is committed to reducing the number of bags in landfill and ensures all plastic bags sold in stores are made from recyclable material.
