Melanie May | 16 May 2016 | News

More than 5,000 Lloyds Banking Group staff will be volunteering this week as part of Give & Gain Day, making the Group the single largest corporate contributor of volunteers for the event.
Give & Gain Day is organised by Business in the Community (BITC), and takes place on 20th May. Now in its seventh year, it is the UK’s only national day of volunteering and will see thousands of people from hundreds of companies volunteering on the day itself as well as during the week running up to the 20th.
Last year saw 220,654 hours volunteered globally from 31,522 volunteers, 18,930 of which were in the UK. More information on how to take part can be found on the BITC site.
Lloyds Banking Group has also committed to providing 240,000 volunteering hours to support community projects in 2016, cumulating in 2.3 million hours by 2020, with a new focus on the provision of skills-based volunteering, which will see one-third of the Group’s volunteers using their own experience and expertise during Give & Gain Week and further developing their skills.
Kamel Hothi, head of colleague volunteering and fundraising, Lloyds Banking Group, said:

“We are proud to participate in Give & Gain Week again this year. Our ambition is to make a difference in the communities where we live and work to help Britain prosper. Supporting and encouraging our colleagues to use their skills to volunteer for the causes that matter to them plays a key part in achieving that.”
