Howard Lake | 21 April 2016 | Blogs

The London Marathon has from the outset attracted runners in novelty costumes, many of them raising funds for charity. Ballrooms dancers, giant beer bottles, camels, chickens and all kinds of superhero have run the streets of London for all kinds of good causes.

Morphsuits, makers of the head-to-toe, skin-tight, single colour fancy dress costumes, have put together an infographic celebrating the runners by featuring some of the remarkable facts, figures and costumes of 36 years of the London Marathon.

The 2016 Virgin London Marathon takes place on 24 April.
