Macmillan launches national summer fundraising event
Macmillan has announced a new national fundraiser for this summer to raise funds for people affected by cancer.
Summer Lights will take place on 25th June, and asks supporters to hold a Summer Lights gathering in the afternoon or evening, either indoors or in the garden. The idea is that using fairy-lights, candles or lanterns to set the scene, hosts will invite friends and family – the people that light up their life – over for nibbles and drinks in exchange for a donation to Macmillan.
Those who wish to get involved can sign up at the event website www.summerlights.org.uk or by calling 0845 070 1318. Participants will receive a free fundraising pack, which includes invitations and donation envelopes, a donation box, paper tea light holders and a guide with ideas.
Hannah Redmond, head of national events marketing at Macmillan Cancer Support said:
“Our supporters have told us that they love the opportunity to get together with friends and family in the name of a good cause and that’s what Macmillan’s new Summer Lights fundraiser is all about. It’s a celebration of the summer and of the people that light up your life, as well as an opportunity to stand together for people affected by cancer.”
