Gosschalk leaves Scope for British Asian Trust
Alan Gosschalk, director of fundraising at disability charity Scope, has been appointed director of fundraising and communications at the British Asian Trust.
Gosschalk joins the team in February to support recently appointed CEO Richard Hawkes in shaping the Trust’s strategic growth, building on its expertise in diaspora giving and deepening its impact across South Asia.He leaves Scope after four and a half years at the charity, where he saw voluntary income increase by 50% over four years and the charity secure partnerships with Virgin Media, GlaxoSmithKline and Standard Life.
A well-known senior figure in fundraising, Gosschalk spent nine years at the helm of Shelter’s fundraising team, launched and chaired the ImpACT Coalition, and was also previously vice chair of the Institute of Fundraising for six years, and a trustee of Hope and Homes for Children for 10 years.
Gosschalk said:
“I am really looking forward to joining The British Asian Trust at this exciting stage in their development as it’s an opportunity to help to establish a new model organisation that will have a huge impact in South Asia. The Trust’s focus on livelihoods, education and anti-trafficking is crucial to addressing the often multi-layered causes of poverty. I am hugely motivated by the Trust’s drive and ambition and am looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
