2015 Big Give Christmas Challenge to double donations

Melanie May | 1 December 2015 | News

The UK’s biggest online match-funding campaign, the annual Big Give Christmas Challenge, begins this Friday, with more than 250 charities taking part.
Back for the eighth year running, the 2015 campaign will double online donations for two days on Friday 4th December, and Saturday 5th December. It invites donors wishing to have their donations doubled to visit www.theBigGive.org.uk as close after midday as possible on both days, where they can choose a charity to give to.
Donations are doubled on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first tranche of match funding released at midday on day one, and the second at midday on day two.
Donations are matched by a range of philanthropic organisations called ‘Champions’, as well as through pledges from the charities’ own major donors. This year’s Champions include The Reed Foundation, The Childhood Trust, Candis Magazine, and The Lake House Foundation.
Alex Day, director of the Big Give said:

“We are extremely excited about this year’s Christmas Challenge. We know the ‘double your donation’ offering proves extremely popular with supporters. We hope this year will be a fantastic experience for all of those taking part and raise many millions of pounds for some wonderful causes.”

Launched in 2008 by Sir Alec Reed, founder of Reed Recruitment, the Christmas Challenge has so far raised more than £64 million for 2,271 charity projects.
