“After seven years, inherited software was limiting our ambitions. On refining our five year strategy to deliver more sophisticated forms of fundraising, it was clear a professional charity system would be the foundation for growing income from individuals in the UK using enhanced CRM, donor stewardship and data tools. We want to be more efficient and fully trust our information – access to a rounded snapshot of a supporter’s life with Afghanaid will enable us to progress that journey”.

2. Shelter Cymru

Shelter Cymru has selected Harlequin CRM software as part of achieving its 202 Vision. As well as the core CRM system with individual giving, campaigns, grants and legacy tools, the charity has opted for the events module from Harlequin. Initial donor acquisition activities include street and telephone fundraising, which require data consolidation work. Integration with the charity’s accounting software will also be delivered.
Louise Bennett, Head of Fundraising at Shelter Cymru explains:

“The system will help us to target relevant supporters with the right message using the profiling and communications tools. It will also cut the time taken to consolidate donation information, including income from sponsorship sites, which will benefit both the finance and fundraising teams. We need to use data in a better way and by 2020 we hope to have 10,000 engaged supporters on our database.”

3. National Coal Mining Museum

The National Coal Mining Museum for England has selected Harlequin CRM software to help it build closer relationships with visitors and expand its fundraising activity.

The Museum attracts 100,000 visitors each year, and has an income of over £3.5 million, but it needs to grow its voluntary income from individuals in response to decreased funding.

Liz Orme, Development Officer at the National Coal Mining Museum said:

“Utilising technology, we have a fantastic opportunity to nurture one-time visitors into longer term supporters and build individual giving. Our new system will transform the efficiency of our ongoing ‘Dig Deep & Donate’ and ‘Sponsor a Pony’ campaigns; it will also help our 2015 ‘Miners’ Memorial Garden’ appeal have more impact.”

The Museum will use Harlequin CRM for contact and campaign management and fundraising from grants, corporates, legacies and individuals – including regular giving programmes. In future it will roll out the Events and Volunteer modules, and look at integration with the front-of-house ticketing system.

4. Racing Welfare

Racing Welfare, The Jockey Club’s charity for people in need in the horse-racing industry, has selected Harlequin CRM for its new fundraising team.
It has selected the standard CRM system together with the events module, all of which will support its requirement for a fundraising and communications database that handled relationship management, trusts and foundations, event management, marketing and reporting.
