Localgiving raises £10 million for over 3,000 charities

Online fundraising platform Localgiving has now raised £10 million for local charities and community groups in the seven years since it was founded.
Over 3,000 charities and groups have received over 80,000 donations made from all regions of the UK.

#LocalHero campaign

The total income is expected to rise as the site launches its latest campaign. The #LocalHero campaign, supported by online investment manager firm Nutmeg, runs from 1 to 30 June and is offering £5,000 to be shared at the end of the month by the causes that are supported by the top 20 fundraisers.
The campaign is also supported by film producer and philanthropist Lord David Puttnam.
You can see which fundraisers and causes are currently in the lead on a leaderboard on the Localgiving website. The winning cause will receive £1,000.
Lord David Puttnam, producer of films including “Local Hero”, commented:

“Across the UK there are literally hundreds and thousands of people who selflessly give up time to support their local communities. Without them we would have a massively impoverished country. Localgiving is celebrating the local heroes that are responsible for all that extraordinary amount of work. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a local hero and you want to win an additional £1,000 for your charity just sign up to Localgiving.com to be in with a chance.”
