Corporate partnerships in April 2015

Here is our monthly round-up of corporate partnerships with charities, including results, charity of the year announcements and other CSR activities.

1. Pearson commits £1.5m to Save the Children

Pearson and Save the Children have launched an ‘Every Child Learning’ partnership, to help out-of-school children caught in the Syrian refugee crisis access quality education.
The Syrian conflict is now entering its fifth year. More than two million displaced children are no longer in school and are more vulnerable to the risks of child labour, early marriage and recruitment into militia groups.
Pearson has committed £1 million over three years to co-create these solutions with Save the Children which can then be adapted, scaled and replicated in other emergency and conflict settings. Pearson has also donated £500,000 to support two Save the Children education centres in Amman.

To mark World Water Day on 22 March, workplace drinks provider, Eden Springs, will help to fund the construction of clean water wells in Uganda. It will make a donation for every bottled water cooler installed in March to help its charity partner, People Help People-One World, to build even more wells in Uganda.
Raanan Zilberman, CEO of Eden Springs, said:

“By making an additional donation for each bottled water cooler installed in March to People Help People-One World, we are sure that we are helping to improve access to fresh drinking water sources in Uganda.”

3. LivingSocial and Comic Relief

Living Social raises funds for Comic Relief

Living Social raises funds for Comic Relief by donating £1 for each of its online deals.

Local discovery search engine LivingSocial has donated £20,000 from online transactions to Comic Relief. It expects to donate more over the coming weeks.
The company teamed up with 76 UK businesses to create a range of special deals, from which it donates £1 per transaction to the cause.
LivingSocial’s partnership with Comic Relief began in 2013, providing customers with the chance to donate, not by digging in their own pocket, but by simply booking a fun activity, trip or experience. Combined with previous contributions, the total LivingSocial has donated to the charity is more than £50,000.
Steven Marritt, CEO of LivingSocial UK & IE, said:

“Many of the specially-sourced deals will stay live until the end of the month and visitors to the site can also choose to donate in denominations of £2, £5, £10 or £20, so we urge everyone to help us make this year a donation record!”

4. SLI365 and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity

Armed Forces life insurance provider SLI365 is extending its ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the national charity of the British Army.
SLI365 is backed by the MOD and provides Regulars and Reserves serving in the British Armed Forces with guaranteed life and terminal illness insurance whether they are on or off duty. As part of the partnership, SLI365 makes a donation to the charity every time a new Army member joins the scheme.
