New awards to showcase the best charities in Kent

Howard Lake | 3 July 2014 | News

Kent charities have a chance to shine in the inaugural Kent Charity Awards, which are now open for nominations.
The aim of the awards, which are free to enter, is “to showcase and reward the hard work and perseverance of charities/voluntary groups and their staff”. They are open to large and small charities, including national charities with a Kent branch. Nominees can be a registered charity, or a community or voluntary group.
Winners will benefit from considerable publicity, courtesy of the Awards’ sponsors – the KM Group, Furley Page, Kent County Council, Reeves Accountants, Medway Council, MidKent College, Southern Water, Diggerland and Kent Reliance.
All entries will be profiled in the KM Group newspapers across Kent, and the first profiles are already live. The 12 finalists will attend a gala awards evening in March 2015.

KM Charity of the Year

Any organisation that enters the Awards will automatically be added to the list of charities applying to be KM Charity of the Year, and vice versa.
Mike Hill, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Kent County Council said:

“Kent County Council is delighted to be amongst the founder-sponsors of the Kent Charity Awards. Every day the charity sector, often through the dedication of volunteers, makes an enormous contribution to the well-being of Kent people and communities. We believe that these awards will recognise and celebrate the range, energy and commitment of the sector.”
