BHF and British Cycling partner to boost cycling and fundraising
A partnership between the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and British Cycling, the national governing body of cycling, aims to encourage the British public to take up cycling as part of an active, healthy lifestyle.
The two organisations will be offering cyclists a range of materials to improve their cycling skills and build their confidence. By joining British Cycling via the BHF website, cyclists will receive a membership package and access to training materials, together with discount offers for Halfords and priority access to UK cycle events and much more.
Donation per new member
Fundraising for the heart charity is part of the deal too. For example, every time a cyclist signs up to become a British Cycling member via the BHF website, a £4 donation will be made to the charity.
Cycling fundraising events
The BHF organises around 25 cycling events around the country, all of which are open to cyclists with a variety of abilities. This year its famous London to Brighton Bike Ride will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2015.
Cycling Project Manager at the BHF, Shoshanna Goodman, said:

“Each year around 60,000 cyclists get on their bike for us and challenge themselves on road, off-road, overnight or overseas, raising approximately £5 million for life-saving research. Cycling is a fantastic way to keep your heart healthy and by taking on a ride for us, not only will you be keeping fit but you will be helping us fund life-saving research”.
