BNP Paribas and Forbes Insights launch Individual Philanthropy Index Report
Forbes Insights and global private bank BNP Paribas Wealth Management have launched the second annual Individual Philanthropy Index Report.
The Index measures and reflects the commitment of philanthropists in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and for the first time, the United States. Scores are assigned based on three main criteria; the amounts donated, innovation, and the efforts of the individual philanthropists to promote their chosen causes.
In the report, which analyses the giving of over 400 High Net Worth Individuals, broad conclusions are made about attitudes to philanthropy. The Index shows an interesting insight into the perceived urgency of philanthropic giving: 79% of those polled describe the need for philanthropic giving as either ‘urgent’ or ‘very urgent’.
Philanthropists in the Middle East were willing to take a longer-term view of their philanthropy. More than half of the philanthropists from this region were prepared to wait more than 25 years to see the impact of their gifts. Donors in the United States, Asia and Europe expected to see results in less than 10 years.
BNP Paribas and Forbes Insights started the Individual Philanthropy Index Report in 2013.
