KCOM Group puts £36,000 into the Sparks fundraising jar

Howard Lake | 2 September 2013 | Newswire

KCOM Group recently hosted its ninth annual charity golf day and raised a massive £36,000 for its Charity Partner, Sparks, which funds life-saving research into conditions affecting babies, children and mums-to-be.

Employees at KCOM Group came together with customers, partners, suppliers and celebrity sportsmen, including sports impressionist Aaron James and former Leeds United footballer Eddie Gray, to play 27 holes at Forest Pines Golf Club in North Lincolnshire. Thirty eight teams of four battled it out on the golf course, winning prizes for the best individual round, best hole and best team.

Chief Financial Officer for KCOM Group, Paul Simpson, said: “When we first held this event in 2005 just 13 teams took part. Now there are 38 teams with 152 players involved, including celebrity sportsmen from across the country.

“It’s our biggest fundraising event in the calendar; it’s great to see people come together and dig deep to help a good cause like Sparks. We really appreciate the support we get from our partners and suppliers in helping us raise such an impressive amount of money, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.”

Since the start of their partnership with Sparks, KCOM Group has raised over £100,000 through a wide range of company-wide events and employee fundraising activities.
