The National Union of Students (NUS) has announced the 25 universities that will receive a total of £5 million for environmental sustainability projects.

The Students' Green Fund is managed by the NUS for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). The student-led environmental sustainability projects will be run through students' unions in partnership with their parent institutions.

Projects funded range from the sustainable food focus of ‘Sheffield on a plate’, to the community focused ‘Guerrilla Gardeners’ in Newcastle, and Staffordshire’s ‘Green Pad’ on sustainable housing. They are expected to engage over 50,000 students over the next two years.
