Irish Charity Register

Howard Lake | 25 July 2013 | Blogs

I note that the Irish government has given the go-ahead for the establishment of a Charities Regulatory Authority in 2014. One of its roles will be to establish and maintain a register of charitable organisations. It remains to be seen just how much information is available, and how useful the register will be for researchers and fundraisers.

To help meet the costs of regulating the charity sector, registered charities will be required to pay an annual registration fee to the new Authority, as provided for by the Charities Act.  I don't think that anyone has yet suggested that we pay a fee to see or download copies of documents.
