As an ageing mod, I really can’t let it pass that Professional Fundraising’s mid-May issue referred to The Who as a “70s band”. The Who were a 60s band and stats and quality of recorded material back me up on that (10 top-10 hits in the 60s; four top-tenners in the 70s, one of which was the re-released Substitute from 1966).
This kind of thing would never have happened in My Generation. Why did PF get this wrong? I Can’t Explain. But you better get this right in future PF. You Better, You Bet. Ok that’s enough crap Who jokes.
Next time – how The Who foresaw the Treasury’s funding of Guidestar in their classic 1971 (ahem!) hit, Won’t Get Fooled Again.
