Macmillan stages second #LondonTakeover collecting day
Yesterday 280 Macmillan Cancer Support staff took to the streets of London with their collection buckets for the Macmillan London Takeover Day.
The charity had permission to collect money from various metropolitan areas of London for one day only. So they invited staff from across London to stand on the streets and raise as much as they could. In addition, corporate partners invited their staff to join in with the collections, and Macmillan's volunteers also boosted numbers.
Many of the collectors wore Macmillan's distinctive green wigs.

Teams collected at 29 locations across London. Some of them tweeted using the hashtag #LondonTakeover to let people in the area know they were there. A number of the tweets reported positive interactions with donors and the public, some of whom thanked the collectors for the ways in which Macmillan had helped them or a friend or relative.
This was the second Macmillan London Takeover Day. Last year the event raised £7,524.
