ASDA’s Ticked Pink campaign has now raised £30m for breast cancer charities
Tickled Pink was founded in 1996 by Asda with the aim to raise awareness of and money for the treatment of breast cancer in the UK.After 16 years of fundraising Supermarket Asda has raised over £30 million through its Tickled Pink campaign for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.
Asda currently has 564 stores and 150,000 employees.
What the money has funded
The funds raised by Tickled Pink have have a significant impact on both charities. The money has helped fund:

- 78 Breast Cancer Campaign research projects in 22 locations across the UK
- the creation and development of the UK’s first national Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank for researchers across the UK and Ireland. Asda donated £2 million in 2012 towards the Tissue Bank.
- Breast Cancer Care’s Helpline and services. which last year handled 13,000 calls. Samia Al Qadhi, Chief Executive at Breast Cancer Care said: “Tickled Pink funding provides half of Breast Cancer Care’s vital emotional and practical support services for the 50,000 people diagnosed every year”.
Al Qadhi and Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive at Breast Cancer Campaign, both commented: “We’re so proud of everything the Tickled Pink collaboration has achieved and so humbled by the support and dedication of Asda’s customers, suppliers and colleagues– without them we wouldn’t be able to be here as a lifeline for anyone affected by breast cancer”.

This year Asda has already raised over £3,442,000. Tickled Pink products will be available in Asda stores in Sepember 2013.
