Howard Lake | 12 June 2012 | News

National Historic Ships UK and the Marsh Christian Trust have announced this year’s Marsh Volunteer Awards, which are designed to recognise outstanding volunteers in the conservation or operation of historic vessels in the UK.
The second year of these annual awards sees the introduction of the Young Volunteer of the Year award, with a £500 prize, to acknowledge the role of young people in historic vessel conservation.
With a prize value of £1,000, the National Volunteer Award is open to any individual or small group of people who are over the age of 25 and have demonstrated outstanding dedication to a historic vessel project over a period of years.
Martyn Heighton, Director of National Historic Ships UK, said: “These awards will allow us to recognise and thank outstanding volunteers from our sector, without whom many of our most significant vessels would no longer survive for members of the public to enjoy.”
Nominations close on 31 July 2012.
