The VAT ditty from Wakefield Cathedral

Howard Lake | 2 April 2012 | News

The changes to VAT announced in the March 2012 Budget include a provision that will remove the zero rating of VAT on alterations to listed buildings.
Wakefield Cathedral is just one building that will be affected if this is implemented.
Written and performed by Pamela Greener, this song asks the Chancellor to reconsider this proposal to help the Cathedral ensure that it can continue its restoration work. It also invites the public to sign a petition to this effect:

This a very good combination of humour, song, video and timeliness in getting across a core fundraising message. Sometimes, it seems, as with the current #giveitbackgeorge campaign, charities have to campaign simply to hold on to what money they have got, let alone raise new income.
