Staff morale at 'all time low', survey reveals

Howard Lake | 29 March 2012 | News

The interim results from this year’s Charity Pulse survey reveal that the voluntary sector is not a happy place to work at the moment.
The percentage of employees who think morale in their charity is high is down from 43% in 2011 to 29% this year, and the number of those who would recommend their organisation as an employer down from 70% last year to 56% this year.
Maybe not surprisingly fewer people say they feel appreciated at work and a significantly lower percentage rate their senior management teams highly. As you might expect from these results the sector has seen continued redundancies and half the respondents have been subject to pay freezes.
This is the sixth year that Birdsong Consulting and Third Sector have run the Charity Pulse survey, and it shows the biggest drop in job satisfaction since it began. In previous years the interim findings have been fairly indicative of the final results.
The survey is open until 13 April, and is open to anyone and everyone working for a UK charity. It will only take a few minutes of your time and you’ll find the survey at http://www.bird-song.co.uk/Main/Charity_Pulse_2012.html
