Charities to earn donations for promoting Direct Debit in Bacs campaign

Bacs Payment Schemes Limited, the organisation behind Direct Debit, is encouraging charities to partner with corporate supporters to promote paying by Direct Debit and receive a donation for each customer that does so.
The Big Break is a nationwide campaign that is open to any charity. It is designed to encourage more consumers to sign up to pay their bills by Direct Debit with the chance of being entered into a prize draw to win £10,000 with participating billers. The billing organisations that take part also commit to making a donation to their chosen charity for each customer who enters the prize draw.
Dawneth Perry, market sector manager at Bacs, said: “We would urge charities to take advantage of this opportunity to benefit from extra donations this year by highlighting the benefits of the campaign to their corporate supporters who can sign up to The Big Break. Not only will it increase donations, but will create savings for businesses as paying regularly by Direct Debit is more efficient and reliable.”
The campaign also includes the option for people to nominate someone to win a £1,000 cash prize every month between February and October. Every nomination will generate a donation from Direct Debit to Marie Curie Cancer Care. Nominations are open until 31 October 2012.
