Building firms bring Christmas cheer to hundreds of children

With Christmas just around the corner, building contractor, Galliford Try Partnerships North and its house-building division, Linden Homes, were extending the festive cheer to children across the region through their annual Christmas appeal.
The appeal is designed to ensure as many children as possible share in the excitement of Christmas.
This year, both companies have donated gifts for the children on Ward 10, the orthopaedic ward, at the Great North Children’s Hospital. Staff across the region collected presents for the appeal, which were delivered by David Atkinson, Galliford Try’s design coordinator and Jan Gill, sales and marketing manager of Linden Homes.
The team also encouraged their friends and families, suppliers, contractors and even visitors to their offices to support the worthy cause.
Jan Gill said: “While we come into Christmas being thankful for everything our families have, we want to encourage everyone to spare a thought for the children and their families who need some extra support this Christmas.”
She added: “We were thrilled to have the chance to donate these gifts and hope the children enjoy them over the Christmas holidays.”
The donations were welcomed by Matron, Helga Charters, who said: “We are extremely grateful for this type of support because it means so much to the children. Some are with us for a few days, but for others, their stay can run to a few weeks, so gifts like this add to the excitement of Christmas and really help the children on their road to recovery.”
