Guinness Fund open for applications

Howard Lake | 6 November 2011 | News

The annual Arthur Guinness Fund, which supports social entrepreneurs in Ireland, is now open for applications.
The Fund makes a number of €100,000 (for more advanced projects) and €50,000 awards (for start-up projects). Grants are spread over two years.
Established as part of the Guinness 250 celebrations, the Arthur Guinness Fund works with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland to implement the Fund. Over the last two years nearly €2 million has been awarded to 20 projects addressing social, environmental and community issues in Ireland. While projects throughout Ireland are eligible, no projects in Northern Ireland have yet been successful in attracting funding.
Applications are accepted under one of six categories:
• Technology and Social Media for Social Good
• Skills for Life
• Enriching the Environment
• Social and Community Regeneration
• Culture and Arts
• Community Wellbeing.
There is also an open category.
There are four criteria for assessing applications – innovation, reach and scale, impact and sustainability.
The deadline for applications is 30 November 2011.
