Dorset charities and voluntary organisations can now apply for the second round of the Comic Relief small grants programme for 2011 – 2013. The grants programme is administered by Dorset Community Foundation which will award grants between £1,000 and £10,000, with an average grant value of £4,250.
To qualify for funding, projects should be run by people directly affected by the issues they are dealing with. Priority will be given to small, locally based groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community.
Special Olympics Bournemouth and District group were one of the successful applicants from the first round of Comic Relief applications. They have teamed up with Team Dorset Athletics Network to provide weekly sessions of athletics and volleyball over a 3 month period with a view to continue as a regular activity.

All community foundations across the country are running Comic Relief funding for the next two years, all offering the same grant size of £1,000 to £10,000. However, all of them have different panel and round dates. Contact your local community foundation for guidelines of the Comic Relief fund and round dates.
