Media Trust’s Untold Stories programme is now open to applications for small charities and groups that want to have their story told by a professional film-maker.
Now in its seventh year, and supported by Sainsbury’s, Untold Stories will benefit 15 organisations across the UK. The films about their work will be broadcast on Media Trust’s national television channel, Community Channel, and will be presented by Jon Snow.
The scheme is open for applications to charities, not-for-profits or voluntary organisations with an annual turnover of less than £2 million. They must be prepared to pay up to £1000 towards the costs, a fraction of the usual costs for creating such a film. Filming will take place between October 2011 and March 2012 for the filming process.
Untold Stories has produced more than 150 films for small charities working in a wide range of areas including disability, youth, community conflict, racerelations, sport, arts and the environment and the equivalent of £1,250,000 has been donated in time and resources by the media industry.
Caroline Diehl, Chief Executive at Media Trust said: “We know that many charities are struggling in the current economic climate, which can have a significant impact on their ability to get their voices heard. This is a rare opportunity for them to tell their story to a wide audience.”
Applications for the scheme are open until noon on 14 October 2011.
