Newcharities.org announces The Trust List of new charities

Howard Lake | 16 September 2011 | News

Newcharities.org has started publishing The Trust List, a subscription service for prospect researchers and fundraisers searching for new grant making trusts in England and Wales.
Published monthly in PDF, The Trust List typically lists between 60 and 120 trusts, depending on the number registering with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. All trusts included in the list state that they provide grants to other organisations. Around a quarter to a third state that they have general charitable purposes.
The publication includes an index of all the new charities and a keyword associated with the specific focus of the trust, according to their stated objects.
Newcharities.org was set up in the summer of 2011 by Stuart Sherriff who has over 10 years experience in trust fundraising and who served as the chair of the Institute of Fundraising’s Trust & Statutory Special Interest Group for the last three years; and governance specialist Chai Patel who has worked as a project manager for the past seven years with not-for-profit and statutory organisations.
Sherriff says: “Over 5,000 charities register with the Charity Commission each year; around 1 in 6 of those are specifically set up to provide grants to other organisations.” He adds: “We provide the only full list of all newly listed grant making bodies in England and Wales.”
The Trust List is available at an introductory price of £240 + VAT until December 2011.
