Zurich's free Community Toolkit to help smaller startup groups and events

Howard Lake | 13 September 2011 | News

Zurich Insurance plc has created Community Toolkit, a free online resource for people who want to get involved in organising smaller, straightforward community activities. The site offers tools, tips and information on some of the key areas of responsibility when setting up a community group or activity.
The site offers advice on health and safety, planning, insurance and the law. In return for filling in some details about the new group or initiative, users can receive a tailored document with relevant advice.
Users get started by using the Activity Checker. This tool “will be able to tell you whether this website is suitable for what you’re planning. If not it will point you towards more information or other sources of help.” One of the options users can select is “I would like to organise a fundraising activity”.
Zurich say: “We looked at the barriers that stood in your way to volunteering in your local community and created a website that could give you some ./guidance, inspire you and, most importantly, provide you with some information you may need to get started.”
The site was created in partnership with Tennyson Insurance, legal and insurance specialists Beachcroft, NACVA, BTCV, the Directory of Social Change, and YouthNet’s Do-It volunteer website.
