CLIC Sargent launches NI capital campaign

Children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent is running a £4 million capital campaign in Northern Ireland.
The ‘Home from Home’ campaign seeks to raise £4 million for two new facilities that will give families a place to stay while their child is in hospital receiving cancer treatment. On average a family in Northern Ireland will make a round-trip of 95 miles, up to five times a week so that they can access the cancer treatment their child needs at the two specialist Belfast hospitals.
The new campaign will target both high level donors and community fundraising to reach the target. CLIC Sargent in Northern Ireland is currently recruiting four fundraising posts to support the Home from Home campaign.
The posts include an Appeal Director and Major Donor manager as well as community fundraisers. CLIC Sargent currently runs nine Homes from Home across the UK.
Former world boxing champion Barry McGuigan will be the patron of the appeal. His wife Sandra, who is also a patron of the charity, has been named as Chair of the Appeal Committee. He explained his involvement, saying: “I know first-hand about the vital support CLIC Sargent provides for families affected by childhood cancer, because it helped our family when my daughter Danika was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 11.”
Northern Ireland’s other children’s cancer charity, Northern Ireland Childrens Cancer Fund, is also running a capital campaign to enhance one facility in Newcastle and provide a new support centre in Belfast.
