British Military Tournament to benefit all three services' charities
This year’s British Military Tournament will benefit charities for the three armed forces. The event, supported by Boeing, takes place at Earls Court London form 2 to 4 December 2011, and will benefit ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Last year the Tournament was the biggest fundraising event for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. This year’s event has a theme of the “special relationship”, or “essential relationship” as it was recently referred to by the Prime Minister, between the United Kingdom and the United States.
It will depict the 250-year military history between the UK and USA through performances of military precision, re-enactments, words, and music
in a theatrical spectacular. It will be narrated by actor Anthony Andrews.
General Sir David Richards, the Chief of the Defence staff said: “Last year’s efforts were a great success as a spectacle for the public and in raising money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and I am delighted that it will be held again this year with an even wider participation and, now, to the benefit of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund as well as The Soldiers’ Charity”.
