Localgiving.com to match £25,000 of donations to Plymouth charities

Thirty eight charities in Plymouth are to benefit from a matched giving programme which starts today. Localgiving.com, the site that works to enable philanthropic giving to small local charities and community groups in the UK, will match up to £25,000 of donations to organisations working in Plymouth.
Localgiving.com works with the nationwide network of Community Foundations, so in this case it is working with the Community Foundations for Devon and Cornwall.
The Localgiving.com Match Fund for Plymouth began at 8am today by releasing £6,250. It will release the same amount on the next three Mondays.
All participating organisations need to do is to persuade their supporters to donate to them via the Localgiving.com site, and then claim the matched sum. Donors can of course make their donation using Gift Aid. In this case a donor’s £1 would be worth £2.25 to a charity.
The Plymouth Matched Fund is a pilot project and, if successful, Localgiving.com plans to extend it nationwide.
