Institute seeks members to help set fundraising standards

The Institute of Fundraising is inviting its members to apply to join its Standards Committee to help set and promote the highest standards in fundraising. The Committee identifies those elements of fundraising requiring Codes of Fundraising Practice, and both facilitates and approves the development, revision and maintenance of the Codes.
Members of the Committee commit to attend four meetings a year for an initial three-year term. The Institute covers reasonable travel expenses.
To ensure that the Committee does not operate in a vacuum, representatives from the Office for Civil Society, Charity Commission, and the Fundraising Standards Board sit on the Committee as observers.
Stephen Pidgeon FInstF, Chair of the Standards Committee, said: “The strength of our Standards Committee is its mix of senior fundraisers from different sized charities, with some consultants. In order to ensure we can continue to define the best standards critical to effective fundraising, we are looking for new committee members to join us. It’s a hard-working committee but a lot of fun.”
Applications are required by 21 July 2011.
